Different behavior in Cubase 4.5.2 and Cubase 5.0.1
« on: April 18, 2009, 10:07:03 PM »
Hello;

I just tried out version 1.0.1 and I have the impression that there is a different behavior in Cubase 4.5.2 and Cubase 5.0.1.
In Cubase 4.5.2 it works like it should be and I already enjoyed mixing this way. I can hear a clearly difference when switching the plugin on or off.
In Cubase 5.0.1 it reacts different. Switching on or off makes nearly no difference in sound (except extreme settings).
Did you test with Cubase 5 too?

That is pretty weird, to say the least.  To be honest no, we didn't check with Cubase 5--looks like it's time we ordered our copy. :)

If I can think of any troubleshooting to try on this I'll report back here, but from the top of my head I can't think of anything that could reasonably be causing this.

Thanks for the report & I'll report back,

Thanks for quick reply;

double checked it again with the same results. Additionally now it behaves under Cubase 4.5.2 just like with Cubase 5.0.1.
First I installed the new version of  Redline Monitor (1.0.1) over the old version (1.0).
Now I completely removed it and installed version 1.0.1 new – same results.
I switched back to version 1.0 that worked fine for me – not a big problem.

So, just to make sure:

  • 1.0.1 now misbehaves with both Cubase 4 and 5, and
  • 1.0 works fine on both?

If so I shd be able to troubleshoot that here on Cubase 4.  BTW are you on PC or Mac, and what OS/version?

Thanks,

Last time I tried it out with a fresh install of version 1.0.1 it sounded different from version 1.0 in both Cubase 4.4.2 and 5.0.1. I had the impression that the main effect of the plugin (to bring the sound in front of the listener) was gone. All the dials and buttons work but switching the plugin on/off with the button in the upper left area doesn't make such a clear difference in the sound as with version 1.0 which works fine.
(Pc with Win XP SP3 here)
